The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an expression of the ecumenical movement - a worldwide movement among Christians:
  • to heal the divisions within the Church
  • to promote dialogue among churches and Christian communities
  • and to encourage Christians everywhere to better understand and reflect the implications of "one Lord, one faith, one baptism."

2012 Middle School Winter Retreat

January 27-29, 2012
East Bay Camp - Hudson, IL
Cost: $90, scholarships are available

 

This retreat is open to all middle School youth (grades 6-8) and their friends in Chicago and Blackhawk Presbyteries. Your time will be spent having fun, enjoying music, making new friends and hearing inspiring messages on the topic of "Surrendering to God." There's lots of great free time options too, like basketball, outdoor games, and an indoor pool.

Val MurphyAPCE continues to remember Chicago Presbytery former member Val Murphy through her namesake scholarship. Val served as Director of Christian Education at Sixth Grace Church, Chicago, from 1963 to 1974. The scholarship covers expenses of attending the annual event, and goes to help racial/ ethnic persons working in the field of Christian education, who are also students majoring in Christian education.

Middle EastOpportunities for Trips to the Middle East

 

Isn't it time you visited Israel and Palestine?  Pauline Coffman and Paul Parker (from Elmhurst College) will be co-leading a trip, June 12 - 25, 2012, that will look at Religous Diversity in Israel and Palestine and how daily life is impacted by the political realities.  

We will be meeting with Jews, Christians, Muslims, Samaritans, Ba'hai, and the Druze.  Our itinerary will take us to Yad Vashem (the Holocaust Museum), Masada, the Dead Sea (for a swim), Bethlehem, Hebron, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Acco, and Jaffa.

For Such a Time as This: A Small Church Residency - Growing Leaders, Growing Churches

 

Launched by the General Assembly Mission Council (GAMC)in Fall 2009, For Such a Time as This is a timely and innovative program that pairs small, underserved congregations with recent seminary graduates in a two-year pastoral residency relationship. The program was designed to renew the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) by equipping new pastors to grow small churches Deep and Wide in evangelism, discipleship, servanthood and diversity.
