The five-session Enlivening Congregational Song seminar is starting soon and open to more participants.

This unique hands-on training opportunity is for church musicians, clergy, lay worship leaders and other persons interested in developing skills to engage and strengthen congregational singing. Know that--using a skilled song leader is a major step toward enlivening your congregation's singing and total worship experience.

Cost for the seminar is $150 for all sessions and materials.  Contact me here or at 773-728-8274 with any questions.

Do consider making this small investment in your congregation's singing and worship life this summer.

Opportunities for Trips to the Middle East

Travel opportunities in the Middle East!

The Middle East Task Force sponsored traveling seminars to Lebanon- Syria and Israel Palestine which were to depart in October have been postponed until March.  The unrest in the Middle East and projected problems in Israel/Palestine after the UN vote in September on Palestinian statehood has made postponement seem wise.  Watch for exact dates of the reschedule seminars - rescheduling is in process.

Worship:  A survey of God's gifts among us

John August Swanson The Worship, Music & the Arts Work Group of the Presbytery of Chicago is asking your help in gathering the names of those in our presbytery who are blessed with particular gifts for creating and leading worship; poets and painters, potters and singers, musicians and dancers...and more!

The survey is being circulated to all congregations, clerks of session, clergy, and retired clergy.  We'd appreciate receiving your responses by June 15. Click here to fill it out.

What we'll do with the names we receive: Our goal is to create a resource for the presbytery that will connect congregations, other ministries, and groups with persons who have particular gifts for worship.  The list will not be published on the presbytery's website; only categories of resources. Thank you for helping us celebrate the gifts of God among us!

Proactive Transformation logoProactive Transformation

The Presbytery of Chicago is seeking to resource congregations that are located in changing neighborhoods and communities - and are yearning to engage these changes with a proactive and transformative attitude.

This could be economic, ethnic, racial or social change in the communities where you are currently working to provide a space of worship, mission and faith community.

Read more, or to be considered, return the form and questionnaire to Rev. Shawna Bowman by July 5th, 2011.
