Free Canalside Programming
Saturdays & Sundays, May 26-Sept. 9  
 

Professional storyteller, Gretchen Murray Sepik, pictured above, will present "Erie Canal Sal" as part of Young Audiences Local History series hosted Canalside. 

  

Young Audiences will bring the sights, sounds, and cultural diversity of Western New York to audiences of all ages this summer, through a series of free Creative Family events hosted at Canalside. Weekly programming, led by outstanding local artists, will feature interactive performances and hands-on workshops that emphasize the diverse history and culture of our region.

Saturday programming will feature an exciting line-up of local artists whose work contributes to making this region one of America's top arts destinations, while Sunday programming themes on local history, including the Erie Canal, Underground Railroad, and architecture.

Programming begins this Saturday
and features an interactive Ballroom Dance workshop with Kip Ralabate at 11 a.m. and a high-energy juggling performance by Nels Ross at noon. On Sunday, professional storyteller Celes Tisdale presents From Africa to America at noon and The Stringmen perform their Erie Canal Show at 1 p.m.

THIS SATURDAY!

May 26, 11am-1pm: Canalside programming featuring Kip Ralabate and Nels Ross. Our "Local Artists" series kicks-off at 11 am with Kip Ralabate's Ballroom Dance Workshop and a high-energy juggling show with Nels Ross beginning at noon. 
Free Admission.

THIS SUNDAY!
May 27, 11am-1pm: Canalside programming featuring Celes Tisdale and The Stringmen. Young Audiences "Local History" series features a performance by professional storyteller Celes Tisdal  and an Erie Canal family concert by The Stringmen. Free Admission.

June 1, 6-7pm: Gretchen Murray Sepik performs at Albright-Knox Art Gallery. A professional storyteller, Sepik will share folk tales from the Erie Canal. Free Admission.

June 2, 11am-1pm: Canalside programming featuring Eric Crittenden performing Critt's Juke Joint. Free Admission.

June 3, 11am-1pm: Canalside programming featuring Annette Daniels Taylor performing Nancy Goes to Seneca Falls and leading the interactive workshop Mapping the Road to Canaan. Free Admission.

June 3, 2pm-6pm:Young Audiences at the 2012 Buffalo Pride Festival. We're pleased to feature Creative Family programming from 2-6pm at this year's Pride Festival, hosted Canalside. Hands-on workshops will be presented by teaching artists Kyoko Roszmann and Meg Albers, with a 3pm performance by Diaspora Drumming.

June 9, 11am-1pm: 
Canalside programming featuring Le Ballet Touba and Poetic Voices. Le Ballet Touba leads an African Dance workshop followed by a performance of Poet Voices by the Njozi Poets. Free Admission

June 9, 1pm-2pm: Susie Rozler performs her Erie Canal Show at the downtown Central Library. This musical performance celebrates the waterway that changed 19th Century America.
Free Admission.
