Webinar on Spill-Related
Demands, Penalties & Fines
Anyone unprepared to handle spill emergencies quickly and comply with all reporting requirements can end up with major expenses, liability issues and steep penalties. Learn how to respond to spill-related demands from service providers demanding reimbursement, environmental agencies looking to levy fines and penalties for failure to comply with reporting regulations, as well as from third-party claimants seeking damages as a result of environmental spills. These issues will be discussed by Tom Moses, president of Spill Center, on August 24.
Tom is a former U.S. EPA toxicologist and holds a law degree and a certificate in Hazardous Materials Control and Emergency Response. He will discuss the following in the webinar:
- Alternative enforcement settlements available in lieu of paying sizeable fines for late reporting
- Maintaining legally defensible position to counter third-party claims after environmental spills
- Scientific evidence to convince authorities to change their classification of waste and disposal
- Auditing invoices to verify that contractor and emergency responder charges are reasonable
- Confirmation of legal responsibility and required actions from authorities at the scene of a spill
This complimentary, educational webinar will be presented on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1:00 - 1:30 pm. Register for the webinar now at: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/313769000.
