Spill
Experts Generate Savings No company
ever has enough spills to get good a handling them. That's where Spill Center
comes in. With more than 20 years of experience assessing and managing
environmental spills, our service is designed to help clients contain costs and
limit liability related to spills. In one tank truck spill of 4,000 gallons of
methanol-based cleaning compound into a creek, our client saved over $305,000
in cleanup costs by having Spill Center manage the spill. A state
Department of Environmental Quality representative initially ordered that the
water in the creek and a nearby pond be drained and scraped. This scope of work
would have involved a large amount of equipment and personnel along with disposal
of large quantities of soil and liquids, costing in the hundreds of thousands
of dollars. Spill Center retained an environmental consultant
in the vicinity of the spill who determined that the methanol compound released
would evaporate and degrade within eight days - with no residual left behind.
Based on this information, the DEQ agreed to a less aggressive approach
comprised of remediation of gross soil contamination and sampling of soil and
surface water to confirm that the compound had degraded. Within two
weeks of the incident, sample results confirmed that the contamination was
below regulatory standards. Additionally, we reviewed all contractor invoices
and negotiated costs downward, adding to the savings. Spill Center is a leading specialist in
environmental emergency response, investigation and remediation of accidental
releases of hazmat and other regulated materials. Join the ranks of carriers
who depend on us to help put spill emergencies behind them at the least cost
while staying in compliance with reporting regulations 24/7, anywhere in North America. Become a Spill Center
