| Lend A Hand to Feed a Hungry Child
Take action today!

"We have recent financial issues due to medical issues with myself and one of my young children. Without the help of the Food Bank, my family of five would have had very little food to eat over the past few weeks." Erica, San MarcosHunger impacts the
quality of life for everyone in Hays County. A hungry child struggles
to learn and succeed in life. A hungry senior faces the difficult choice
to buy food or pay for medicines or air conditioning. A parent works
hard to make ends meet and feed the family. The Food Bank has
but one mission - to feed hungry people in these tough economic times. Every donation brings the security of food on the table and the promise
of better days to come. Lend A Hand now through August 31. Take action to improve your community today. Join the mailing list, tell a friend about us, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, or become a recurring donor by clicking on the donate button below. Options include a one-time, monthly, quarterly, or yearly gift. It's summer and the
shelves at the Food Bank are almost empty. This happens this time of the
year because donations drop off about the same time kids get out of
school for the summer. Low-income families
already stressed by the slow economy now have an added burden of
feeding kids who usually eat breakfast and lunch at school through the
free and
reduced lunch program. So the need for food increases when the supply
goes down. Tell A Friend Visit our Volunteer page

Food Bank Remodel in Full Swing
|
If you drive by our location on Herndon Street in San Marcos, you will see a beehive of activity as construction crews enclose the drive through and remodel interior offices. The remodel will increase warehouse space for food storage, enlarge the main entrance and add additional
workstations for staff. With a 45% increase in the number of times food is provided per month from 2007 to 2009, the cramped space is simply not big enough to handle the flow of food and people that come into the building every day. The added space will provide temporary relief in this location. The ultimate goal is to build a new Food Bank at the Village of San Marcos site on Hunter Road in the near future. The remodel project is scheduled for completion in Mid-August. Watch for an invitation to an open house to be held sometime in September.

In today's economy, dollars are precious. Nonprofits must manage their
resources
carefully just to survive. Donors need to be aware of how money is being used and for what, and
how it is
accounted for. All well managed
nonprofits are happy to show you the
bottom line.
Every year the Food Bank employs a CPA to conduct an independent annual audit and prepare IRS Form 990. Click here to view this information for 2008 and 2009.
