March 25, 2011

Zion Canyon Field Institute in partnership with Poetry in the Park, Utah State Poetry Society, and Red Rock Writer's Guild presents the second annual Poetry in the Park
writers' workshop on March 25, 2011 at the Nature Center in Zion National Park.

This year's event will feature Diane Glancy, professor emeritus at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 2009 she published two books, THE REASON FOR CROWS and PUSHING THE BEAR. Her newest collection of poems, STORIES OF THE DRIVEN WORLD, was published by Mammoth Press of Lawrence, Kansas in 2010. Ms. Glancy received a 2009 Expressive Arts Grant from the Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. to write a play on the history of Indian Education. She just completed the shooting of her first film, THE DOME OF HEAVEN.

The cost of the workshop is $60. ZNHA members and members of Utah State Poetry Society receive a 20% discount. The workshop starts @ 10 am and continues until about 4:30 pm. Click here to register online.

Funding for this event has been provided in part by the Utah Arts Council.

Zion National Park Welcomes 2011

2010 Goes Out With a Bang

December in Zion and the surrounding area was marked with record rainfall, flooding and rockslides. All were great reminders of the forces that helped make Zion the beautiful place we all love.

Looking forward to the coming year, we hope you will have the opportunity to come and enjoy the peace and beauty Zion has to offer. As the season approaches, patio talks, evening programs, shuttle tours, exhibits and nature walks are being prepared.  Mother Nature has been generous with moisture, leaving the promise of beautiful wildflowers in the canyon and plenty of food and drink for our desert dwellers. So come and enjoy the majesty of Zion National Park in 2011!
