Zion Centennial Stamp Unveiled
You are invited to attend a ceremony at the Zion Visitor Center.

On June 28th in celebration of Zion's Centennial the US Postal Service will release a 79-cent international airmail stamp commemorating the designation of Mukuntuweep National Monument on July 31, 1909. The stamp's release to the public will occur at our own ZNHA bookstore as the "First Day of Sale" with a ceremony commencing at 10:00 am and the sale of the stamp to immediately follow.

Zion Natural History Association has created two special cacheted envelopes especially for the occasion. One cachet is our centennial logo and the other is a reproduction of the 1934 eight-cent Zion stamp from the National Park series of stamps issued that year. Additionally, Tom Haraden assistant chief of interpretation at the park, has created a special first day of sale cancellation design which will appear on all stamps purchased and cancelled that day at our bookstore. In the days to follow visitors will be able to purchase cacheted envelopes with the stamps affixed and the special cancellation as a special centennial product.

For those folks who want to receive a "First Day of Issue" from the US Postal Service in Washington, D. C. you may find information on how to proceed in that regard at the postal service website www.usps.com. ZNHA will sell a packet of five cacheted envelopes online at the ZNHA website (www.zionpark.org) for $10. Patrons may purchase the cacheted envelopes and send them to the Postal Service to obtain "First Day of Issue" cancellations.

Zion Employee Reunion

Angels Landing Zion National Park, Utah Were you ever lucky enough to work or volunteer in Zion? If so, you will not want to miss the opportunity to attend the reunion scheduled as part of the Centennial celebrations. This reunion is not just for Park Service employees but also for any park partner employee and volunteers. Read more about the reunion here.
Greetings!

Those of us who work in Zion National Park are often asked if we ever tire of the beauty we see every day or if we fail to notice the cliffs we have driven past so many times. For me, it seems to be impossible to become jaded to the wonder that is Zion National Park. Everyday the cliffs look a little bit different. The light and shadows fall in a new place. One reminder that it is a special place is displayed upon the faces of the visitors we see everyday. You can't describe the look of joy people have when they see wild animals for the first time or the feelings they try to express when they talk about the solace they find here.
Zion is a wonderful place and many people work very hard to be sure it is wonderful every time you come for a visit. Thank a park ranger if you get a chance.

Thank you for your support of ZNHA. Come for a visit soon.

Sincerely,

Tracy Jones
