Living Above The Law

LOA -- It's even on Twitter now although you may not recognize it unless you know the lingo. No, not "Lifetime Overachievers Anonymous!" It's Law of Attraction, the ancient concept that went  POP with the book "The Secret." At the heart of LOA is the belief that you get more of whatever you focus on--whether positive or negative. Speaking of ancient, that's what the Bible infers when it says, "As a woman thinks in her heart, so is she." (Gender has been changed to protect the insouciant.)

It's not that hard to take a look around your corner of life and see that whether people are aware of it or not, this principle is in operation. At the simplest level, we can observe that people who constantly find fault with things seem to create a life where things are continually "going wrong"--giving them a fresh supply of things to find fault with. Maybe its time to trump up the old adage, "Be careful what you wish for," and say, "Be careful what you focus on!"

Recently, a woman I have great reason to trust said to me, "I believe in the law of attraction, but I live by the law of alignment."

"What's the difference?" I asked, already loving the sound of this new LOA. (Let's call it LOALI)

"For me, the Law of Alignment incorporates the law of attraction but is a higher law," she said. "It states that when I am aligned with my spirit, and therefore with my purpose, my life flows in the right directions and attracts what I need when I need it."

"So the basis isn't so much getting certain things you've set your mind on, but rather ..." I hesitated, my pause inviting her to pick up the trail of my thought.

"Knowing your own deep truths and moving forward in life based on those truths. Sometimes in the process, things you thought you wanted fall away because you weren't truly aligned with them or aren't any more. And others manifest instead because they are more resonant with your spirit."

"I've had that experience!"

Then her voice went soft and she said to me, just above a whisper, "And therefore, you sometimes manifest  things you couldn't possibly have imagined."

A chill went through me. I knew what she meant. In fact, meeting her was an example of that very thing. I'll tell that story a bit later, but for now...some thoughts about LOALI.

Pointing in the Direction of

LOALI

LOA often seems to be aimed at getting: the six figs, the cute hubby, the sports car...or into a dress size
that's eluded you for a decade. Nothing wrong with that...unless you think those things will make you happy. Maybe you've manifested one or more of those things only to realize that when the shine wears off, you need something new to manifest. LOALI is more about manifesting you... an ongoing process of staying in touch with your feelings, your truths and your spirit--uncovering a person that astonishes you.

LOA seems to focus on what we lack and the missing pieces or deficits we want to fill. LOALI focuses on who we already are, what we already have... and then expanding our expression of that. What is working in my life right now? What is beautiful this moment? What did I once dream of that's sitting in the lap of my life now? What action can I take that feels like building on all that? This is the energy of alignment.

LOA is dependent on our conscious minds to generate what we want in our lives. Some say the more exact the better; others say why let the conscious mind be our limit? Allow room for the Universe to be creative! This is more in keeping LOALI, which invites us to make the nurturing and growing of our spirits the highest goal. In so doing, we align with the energy of the Universe which is far more intelligent, expansive and loving than our minds alone.

Have you ever been called to do, be or express something that you KNOW didn't come from your conscious mind? Where did it take you?

I'd love to hear from you!

Up above, I said I'd share something with you later: my own experience of attracting something that I couldn't possibly have imagined.

It's a story that wanted to be a blog post so if you wouldn't mind clicking over to Evolving Journey Blog, I'm ready to spill.
