May, 2010 -- An Army Captain wrote this email to a Heroes on the Water Chapter Coordinator. The Marine Coordinator took them kayak fishing last weekend. He couldn't wait to share it ---
" Thank you so much
for treating us to a little piece of your heaven. 'The river' truly
opened our eyes to a whole new way of fishing.
We talked about our trip all the way
back. You are a true warrior, and I would have been proud to serve next
to you.
You have given us a new sport that we can do with our
injuries. Best of all, I really yearn for a morning in the woods with
my bike or a long run down our country road... those thoughts have been
replaced by talk of new fishing tackle, rods, water craft, and terrain.
You have no idea how mentally and physically healing your program is.
Thank you!! Thank you for your time, your expertise, your passion, and
your dedication to the military in which you served. We feel blessed!!

"
The one statement that made me laugh and cry was "You have no idea how
mentally and physically healing your program is."
We
don't know the healing powers of what we do because
we haven't been there and don't face the challenges they do. We
do know
kayak fishing helps because we hear those words over and over.
Thanks to all the Chapter Coordinators and volunteers across the country who help wounded warriors.
