:: Ask the Doc: Quick Fixes for Summer
 Greetings!
Graduations, weddings, vacations, Reunions.....
It seems all summer long there is someone with a camera capturing memories for years to come.  Be confident that when you look at those pictures you see the relaxed, healthy, glowing person you really are.  Worried the daily grind is taking its toll and making that impossible?  Check out the article below for quick fixes- fillers and skin care- to help you bring out your best self.  If you don't take care of you, who will?

SUN Golf Tournament Fundraiser

China momSurgeon's for Underserved Nations (SUN) is a non-profit group under the direction of Dr. Fox and Mary Jane Heffernan.  Staffed completely by volunteers who pay their own travel expenses, the SUN team travels to countries such as the Dominican Republic, China and Mexico to perform surgery to those who might otherwise be unable to get medical care.  Through surgeries which repair issues like cleft lips and facial deformities, the team is able to help change lives.

On October 16th, SUN will hold its first annual golf tournament at Van Patten Golf Club in Clifton Park!  Come join the fun and help us to support SUN's work.  Proceeds will help cover the cost of surgical supplies, instruments and medications brought on the mission.

Meet the Staff:
Brenda- Patient Care Coordinator

BrendaIf you are having surgery, Brenda is the one to call!  Brenda not only schedules all hospital and office anesthesia surgeries, but she helps to walk patients through the entire surgery process.  After a patient meets with the doctor, she completes a quote for the surgery if it is a cosmetic surgery or begins prior authorization paperwork for insurance surgeries.  After your surgery is scheduled, she sends out all information packets and answers any questions from patients that may come up.  She also coordinates the surgery with the hospitals, pre-admission testing offices and any collaborating surgeons.

While not at work, Brenda enjoys spending time with her children and being outdoors.

Ask the Doc:
Quick Fixes

Q: I have an event coming up and feel like I need a "quick fix" to prepare.  What options do I have?

A:  When people think plastic surgery, they often think lengthy recovery, but this is really not the case.  Patients have many more options today than ever before to help them look their best.  Below are some great "quick fixes" that won't slow down your summer.

Botox:  It is the number one cosmetic procedure for the last few years for a good reason!  Botox is quick, inexpensive and gives great results!  Used primarily for aging changes around the eyes, the effects last 3-6 months and the average cost is around $450.

Latisse Lash Treatment:  Mascara not living up the the "longer, thicker" hype?  Grow your own!  Latisse is the first lash treatment FDA approved.  An applicator is used to apply the product on the upper lash line once a day.  Patients experience thicker, longer, darker lashes in 4-6 weeks.  Latisse is available through prescription and typically costs between $95 and $120 at most pharmacies.

Fillers:  There are many on the market and you will need to talk to one of our providers to find out which one is right for you.  Radiesse, Juvederm, Restylane, Cosmoderm, & Sculptra are just a few that are available to smooth out wrinkles and folds bringing sunken skin back to the surface.  Generally costs between $600-$1200 per treatment.  The results may last one year or more depending upon which filler is used.

Chemical Peels/ Skin Care:  Nothing beats a chemical peel and a good skin care follow-up routine to revive your skin and give you a healthy glow.  Most mild peels done by our estheticians have very little down time and are generally inexpensive costing only around $70.

So, give us a call and be ready for that graduation party, family reunion, wedding and everything else summer has to offer!!
