Congratulations Dr. Kayastha!
Dr. Kayastha has recently received Board Certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery!
To be eligible for Board Certification, Dr. Kayastha attended University of Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his residency at Michigan State University in General Surgery & Plastic Surgery. In addition, he completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the prestigious Buncke Clinic in San Francisco. After fulfilling all of the training requirements, Dr. Kayastha had to document his practice experience and then go through a rigorous oral examination process.
Board Certification, specifically in Plastic Surgery, is an important factor in choosing a Plastic Surgeon since it ensures that you are being treated by a doctor who has received all of the necessary training in Plastic Surgery. It also ensures that your surgeon has achieved a high level of competency.
We send our congratulations to Dr. K for his impressive achievement!! |
Skin Care:
Winter dryness
Chapped lips, cracked skin- winter brings out the worst in our outer layer! Eighty percent of our skin is water and the cold, dry air steals the moisture.
Survival tip #1: Find the right moisturizer! We often make the mistake of picking a moisturizer that feels good on our skin, but does little or nothing to actually add moisture. Ingredients such as fragrances and colors can even add irritation. One great product we carry is Skin Ceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel which contains hyaluronic acid, the body's natural hydrator, to bind moisture to the skin.
Survival tip #2: Just because it is winter doesn't mean the sun does not shine- protect your skin with sun block. This is especially important for skiers and those who do outdoor winter sports. Don't forget your lips- get a balm or lipstick that contains an SPF!
Survival tip #3: Use preventative products, not just moisturizer to keep skin healthy. Our estheticians can help you set up a skin care routine that will protect your skin during this difficult time.
Just for men: Avoid alcohol-based after-shave, it will dry out your skin. Try switching to one that has a moisturizing agent- at least for the winter months.

Ask the Doctor:
Tummy Tucks
Q: How would I know if I am a good candidate for a tummy tuck and what kind of recovery is involved?
A: Women who have had children typically are good candidates for a tummy tuck. The most common problems following childbirth are excess skin and abdominal wall weakness. Both the muscles and the skin of the abdominal wall are often irreversibly damaged by child birth and cannot be corrected with exercise. Often women become discouraged with the appearance of their abdomens despite regular exercise and diet.
Those who have had massive weight loss are also good candidates for tummy tucks since surgery is often the only way to eliminate the excess skin.
Recovery is typically 4 weeks before patients can resume unrestricted activities.
If you are interested in talking to the doctor to determine if you are a good candidate, give our office a call at (518) 346-2358! |

Laser Hair Removal
Q: What is laser hair removal? Is it permanent and is it painful?
A: Laser hair removal uses laser technology to permanently remove hair. It can be done for under arms, back, bikini line, legs and more. Due to the fact that hair grows in phases, 4 to 6 treatments with our Candela Gentlelase are required for total hair removal. It should be noted that the laser is most effective on darker hair.
We recently acquired a new serenity hand piece that makes the hair removal practically pain-free and helps to decrease skin irritation following treatments. Most patients go on with their daily routine following treatments. It is best to stay out of direct sun immediately after which makes winter the best time to start!
