The 2008 Rotax Grand Nationals were held on September 10 - 13, 2008 at the USA International Raceway in Shawano, WI Kart teams from all over the country converged on this small town in search of bragging rights and a trip to Italy for the 2008 World Finals. On September 9, 2008, the Homestead Karting Team made the final preparations, loaded the trailer, and began the 1,700-mile pilgrimage to Shawano, WI. Team drivers included Jordan Perry, Jesus Rios Jr, Ethan Ringle, Jerry Aguirre Jr., Ryan Fowler, and Todd Ulmen. After an eventful week of testing, the Homestead Karting Team looked strong, and had a chance for podium finishes in all the classes entered. Saturday was the final day of the event. After a long season of racing, an intense week of testing, and a tough couple of days of heat racing, the positions had been set, and the team was ready for the finals. Saturday would prove to be an eventful change in the game as rain rolled in, bringing with it wet conditions, rain tires, rooster trails, and four wheel drifting. All in all it was a good day for the Homestead Karting team, with two of our drivers placing on the podium and winning spots on Team America for the 2008 Rotax Grand Finals. Jesus Rios Jr. took home the 2nd place trophy in the Junior class, and Ryan Fowler took home 2nd in DD2. Jordan Perry brought home a top five finish, coming in 5th in the Mini Max class. This closes the book on another great season of Rotax racing for the Homestead Karting team. I would like to congratulate all of our drivers on their professionalism and successes at the Rotax Grand Nationals. We have once again proved that Homestead Karting and the South Florida Rotax Challenge is a force to be reckoned with. Good luck to Team America at the Grand Finals in Italy!
