Club President, Tom Ketelaar, called the meeting of September 24 to order. Jonathan Turner once again provided the entertainment along with his Term Limit Blues Band.
John Califf began the announcements with a note on the next Interclub to be held in Aledo at noon on October 4.
The membership was encouraged to help out at the Mini-Peanut Weekend this-coming Friday and Saturday at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union.
John Califf also gave a brief recap of the Interplanetary Quad City Kiwanis meeting last week. There was a great turnout, a number of Kiwanis luminaries were in attendance, and several very well-deserved awards were given.
Dining books are still available at the final discount clearance liquidation price of $35.
Among the various Happy and Sad Dollars was one from Bob Wakefield in recognition of his picture in the local newspapers as a disappointed Cardinal fan following the announcement by the River Bandits. Bob's Happy Dollar was that they didn't have to use his usual picture from the post office wall.
A happy post-mortem on the bags tournament was the presentation of a check from one of the tournament sponsors, Bent River Brewing. Once again, a well-deserved thanks should go out to Adam Bain and his crew who put the energy, innovation, imagination, and hours into making this event a success.
Guests included representatives of the Alleman High School Key Club and the Jordan Builders Club. We made a presentation of $417 to the Builders Club to support its anti-bullying project.
Adam informed us that there were still a few shirts left from the bags tournament and they are also available at the low, low price of $5.
At this point, President Tom thanked the membership, and especially his cabinet, for the support given during his year as President of the Club. The baton is now passed to Jeff Behrens.
Next Monday will be a special meeting day in that we will be welcoming our new Board and officer cabinet in their induction.
In Fun and Fellowship, Steve Andich won the preliminary prize, which he graciously and generously donated back to the Club. The Kartel won the opportunity to go for the grand prize and, unfortunately, Mike Bell ended the Club business year with a loss.
