Club President, Tom Ketelaar, called the meeting of September 17 to order. Also present was our faithful Mr. Music, Jonathan Turner, and his Go Daddy Entertainers.
Our first announcement came from Jeff Behrens, who provided a bit more detail on the new satellite club. The first meeting will be held Tuesday, September 18, at Icon's Martini Bar in the Rock Island District. Meeting time is 5:30. It is currently anticipated that this new club will meet once a month at a different spot each time. The idea is to maintain the Kiwanis connection with those people who want to be able to serve their community but can't break away for daytime meetings.
John Califf reminded us that the interplanetary Kiwanis Mega-Club meeting will be held at the Davenport Outing Club this Thursday at 11:30. The Club will pick up the ticket, so think about having a truly free lunch.
Sheila Guse reminded us that she needs volunteers to assist the weekend of September 28 and 29 to distribute peanuts at the IHMVCU branch in Rock Island.
A number of Club members attested to the successful bags tournament. All who spoke gave acclaim to their other colleagues who assisted in the effort led by Adam Bain.
Liz Loveless also reminded us of the NAMI walk and all who very generously contributed to the effort this year.
Guests included four Alleman High School Key Clubbers.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize and also won the opportunity to go for the grand prize. Flush with confidence, Bob Wakefield volunteered to play for the Kartel, but his hopes were dashed like a water balloon on gravel.
