Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates

Don't forget next week's meeting is on Tuesday, May 29th, a joint meeting with Rotary, due to the Holiday.

The Opening Act

Club President, Tom Ketelaar, called the meeting of May 21 to order.  Jonathan Turner again delighted the crowd with his Canadian Victoria Day Singers.

John Califf gave the first announcement concerning the recent Interclub in Aledo.  To the extent your Editor led anyone astray by referring to Kewanee, I hope you had a good time as well.  John informed us that the next event is June 13 in Atkinson for the Annual Rolle Bolle Fest.  Word has it that this is widely regarded as the local Kiwanis social event of the year, so get your favorite bolle lubed and prepare to launch.

Tom again reminded us of the Quad Cities Kiwanis baseball outing to be held June 17 as opposed to any other date that Tom may have given us.

Tom also informed us that we should soon expect to hear from Lieutenant Governor, Mark Peterson, as to opportunities to assist at the John Deere Classic again.

The Club was delighted to welcome back Marty Katz, who very graciously thanked all for their expressions of support over the past few months.

Guests included an Interclub from Geneseo and a very large representation from the Builders Club at Jordan.

In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize.  For the grand prize, the Jordan contingent again won the opportunity to win and again lost, as Secretary Mike Bell again gave his admonition "do not gamble" as his parting advice.

The Feature Attraction

The program consisted of some delightful entertainment from Tom's friend, Jordan, as the Club engaged in the annual elections.  As a reminder, the Board nominees included Zach Edwards for Second Vice President, and Heidi Huiskamp-Collins, Julie Derrer and Chris Elsberg for the three-year Board positions.
