Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates

The Opening Act

The meeting of May 7 was conducted by the Alleman High School Key Club.  Jonathan Turner again provided the meeting entertainment with his Pioneer Singers.

The Alleman High School Key Club President introduced her fellow officers and made note of handouts setting out the Key Club membership by class, numerous projects in which the Club is engaged, and notable performance by Key Club members of their volunteer services.

In Club announcements, President Tom reminded us of the        Quad Cities Kiwanis Baseball Night with the River Bandits on June 17.  He also reminded us of our quarterly bills which are now available.

Tom also reminded us of Taco Tuesday at Mulligan's in Coal Valley, a benefit for the East Moline/Silvis Club.

Steve Schroder announced that the next Interclub will be in Aledo on May 17.  If you need a ride, meet at the American Bank parking lot on 18th Avenue in Rock Island around 11:00.

Tom made a third and final reading of the Board's candidates for Club leadership.  For Second Vice President, Zach Edwards; and for Board terms, Chris Elsberg, Heidi Huiskamp-Collins and Julie Derrer.

In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize, and Jud Briggs managed to lose out on the grand prize.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by Don Adams' wife, a professor at St. Ambrose University.  Her theme was her work and passion for peace advocacy and the opportunities the University is extending to Alleman students in being introduced to and participating in this area.  Dr. Adams specifically focused on her experiences in Ireland.
