REMINDER: There will be no meeting the next two weeks. The next meeting of the Club will be on January 9, at which time, Mayor Pauley will give the annual State of the City Address.
Make sure to report your Team Leader every week for anything you have done Kiwanis-related, including attendance at meetings, service projects, or other events. Check out the Scorecard on the front page of the website, www.rockislandkiwanis.org.

| The Opening Act | |
President Tom "Yes They Are my Real Horns" Ketelaar called the meeting of December 19 to order. Jonathan Turner again delighted the crowd with his entertaining prowess, accompanied by the Winter Wonderland Singers.
John Califf began the announcements by reporting that a good time was had by all by those who crossed the river for the Davenport Club's Tom & Jerry party and that no participants were reported to have been in the doghouse since then.
John also reported on the Martin Luther King annual Christmas party which again was a delight to assist with and participate in. There were plenty of volunteers, plenty of kids, and all had a good time.
Donna Keim gave some preliminary figures on the membership participation drive and encouraged all to report back to their team captains.
Dick Fislar again made his pitch for the January 25 night at Circa with Rotary. A limited number of tickets are still available, so snap them up if you don't want to be shut out.
Tom Plechaty gave an updated report on the Club's cheese sales and announced that there should be well over $1,200 available for Club grants.
No doubt, in conjunction with his performance as the Club Cheese Wiz, Tom Plechaty was the beneficiary of President Tom's Presidential Pen Presentation.

The Feature Attraction
| |
In lieu of a program, the Club members enjoyed the annual Bad Gift Exchange. Santa Jennings was reported to have been tied up in some elf contract negotiations, but he was supplanted by the always-capable, favorite red-haired elf of Santa's, Tom Ketelaar. The mind reels at the bizarre, sometimes useless, sometimes mind-numbing gifts the members were delighted to go home with. For those keeping score, Liz Loveless got "The Foot" and, amazingly, no one tried to take it away from her.
