President Tom Ketelaar called the meeting of November 21 to order. Entertainment was once again ably provided by Jonathan Turner and his Kiwanis Midwest Turkey Gobblers.
Our first announcement came from our own Cheese Wiz, Tom Plechaty, the voice from the corner of the room. Tom reminded us that Rotary had been competing with us in cheese sales again this year and that Rotary was starting to catch up on cheese sales to members of our own Club. Tom laid out the challenge for us to try to win this friendly, unofficial contest.
Dick Fislar informed us that he and his good wife were again sponsoring a run for benefit of the homeless on December 4. If you'd like to be able to help Dick out and participate, please let him know.
Dick also reminded us of our Circa 21 joint social with Rotary on January 25.
John Califf reported on the Governor's visit and indicated that it was yet another enjoyable Kiwanis gathering.
Guests included members of the Rock Island High School Key Club.
Alicia Shuman gave us an update on the Club's sponsorship of the annual Martin Luther King Center holiday party. This year, her committee will be conducting its shopping tour December 8, wrapping gifts December 9, and participating with as many of us as can manage December 14 for the party itself.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize, and Golden K Club alumnus, Loren Beaumont, won the opportunity for the grand prize which the wiley Mike Bell manage to wrest away from him.
