While Club President, Craig Knobloch, took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate his last meeting date out of the country, the able-bodied First Vice President, Tom Ketelaar, was in charge. Jonathan Turner was also absent, so we again had a performance by the Monday Noon Monotones led by choirmaster, Daryl Empen.
An announcement was made that by the time you receive this newsletter, you will have probably missed the Interclub in Kewanee on September 28.
This Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Schwiebert Park will be the annual NAMI Walk. There's still time to participate and step it off with Liz.
There were fliers distributed on the tables concerning the Rock Island High School Key Club project October 2 in the form of a tetanus walk on behalf of the Kiwanis Eliminate Program.
A sign-up sheet was circulated to participate in the Club's Martin Luther King Center reading and tutoring service.
A final reminder was given of the Club induction dinner on September 29 at 6:30 at the River House in Moline.
As incoming President, Tom Ketelaar invited anyone who wished to participate on one of the standing committees of the Club to do so and to so inform his team.
Dining Tour books are back and are still a great value.
Regarding the bags tournament, the dust is still settling from the event. Adam Bain indicated that he thought he'd have a financial report on this event next week.
Guests included representatives of the Rock Island High School and Alleman High School Key Clubs.
In Fun and Fellowship, Jeff Behrens operated in the absence of Mike Bell. Steve Andich won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club. The opportunity to go for the grand prize went to the Kartel and, digging into his pocketful of miracles, Father Mirabelli won for the Kartel.
