President Craig Knobloch called the meeting of Monday, September 19 to order. Jonathan Turner was again present and offered his skills with the Kiwanis End of Summer Blues Singers.
The first announcement was that this year, we will be celebrating our first annual Non-Peanut Day Peanut Day with these tasty morsels going at the low Kiwanis price of $30 a case. Or, as Doris Day might have said, Case Sera Sera.
There were profuse accolades for the successful bags tournament. Adam Bain said he would have more precise figures next week.
Gene Smith informed the group that the Birdies pledge resulted in a take of $5,005. Congratulations to all who participated and watch your back, those who have not yet paid Gene.
The next Interclub will be September 28 in Kewanee. If you're interested, jump in Steve Schroder's wagon and take a little tour of the village that Good's built.
Induction of new Club officers will be held September 29 at the River House. New directors will also be sworn in at that time.
Starting next week, Daryl Empen will be stalking us for new member photos for the website. Throw Daryl off, wear a funny disguise.
The next NAMI Walk will be held at Schwiebert Park on October 1. Liz Loveless is again leading the charge for pledges.

We were pleased to welcome and commend our current and incoming Lieutenant Governors.
The Governor's Award was presented to President Craig for the Bowl-A-Thon. Craig graciously declined to take credit for the event or anything like personal scores since, information has it, his average score is about the same as a slight fever in degrees Fahrenheit.
Guests included representatives of the Rock Island High School and Alleman High School Key Clubs.
The assemblage was also treated by one of the sporadic offerings of our own Elvis Townsend.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize which they, of course, gobbled up. They also won the opportunity for the grand prize, which Lee Schenck managed to wrest away from the hands of Mike Bell.
