| Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates | Monday, July 18th is the deadline to register for our 3rd Annual Kiwanis Bags Tournament at the discounted price. The Tournament is September 17th. Go to our website, www.rockislandkiwanis.org to register.
Assistance is still needed to help with the beer tent and ticket gate at the Men's Class C Softball Tournament at Alan Campbell Softball Complex the weekend of August 5-7. Registration sheets will be at the meetings, or email me, daryl@gaselectriccu.com, if you can work a two-hour shift.

| The Opening Act | |
Fresh back from Washington D.C., Club President, Craig Knobloch, called the meeting of July 11 to order. Jonathan Turner was duly missed.
Alicia Shuman gave us another update on the District Convention in Davenport the first weekend in August.
Tom Ketelaar reminded us that Kiwanis Night at Modern Woodmen Park would be held August 21. Come one, come all, buy up your tickets while they're still available.
Tom Plechaty stood in for Adam Bain in pitching our Club's participation in the annual softball tournament. This will be the same weekend as the Convention, just in case you want to get about as much Kiwanis participation as the human spirit can endure.
Happy and Sad Dollars included a visit from another one of our Club's favorite entertainers, Daryl "Blues Man" Townsend.
In Fun and Fellowship, Jennifer Fowler won the preliminary prize, which she graciously donated back to the Club. The same couldn't be said about the grand prize, for which the Kartel qualified, and which Bob Wakefield managed to wrest from the sometimes loose grip of our own Mike Bell.

The Feature Attraction
| |
The program was given by Bruce Carter from the Quad City International Airport, ably assisted in a very informative slide show by our own Cathy Rochau. A number of projects are slated for 2011, including runway construction, fuel farm modifications, and hope for an immigration service site. In all, over $47 million has been earmarked for the Airport over the current seven-year period. Traffic into and out of the Airport is expected to be lower for 2011, primarily attributable to AirTran pulling out of this market. Orlando and Atlanta are the two most popular destinations for Quad City travelers. It was also pointed out that while AirTran is presently absent, Allegiant has jumped in with a number of attractive destinations. Bruce's wish list includes being able to get Atlanta back as a destination, as well as lower fuel prices.
