The meeting was called to order by V.P. Tom Ketelaar. Adam Bain gave the invocation. In attendance were 45 members and 2 guests. Daryl Empen led us in an amazing rendition of "On Kiwanis". It never fails to bring a tear to my eye.
Kiwanis Day at the River Bandits will be on Sunday, August 24th. More details and a sign-up sheet will be available over the next couple of weeks.
The first week-end in August will be a busy one for the club. There are opportunities to help indoors with registration at the Kiwanis Convention. If working outdoors is more your style, plan on being at the softball tournament where you can either pour beer or greet people at the gate.
The highlight of Happy/Sad Dollars was a story from Denise Ormsby which was centered around hugging stools and pooping pants...you had to be there.
Daryl Townsend presented $54 for Pantry Day. Congratulations to Daryl and Bonnie Townsend as they celebrate 52 years of marriage.
The warm-up act for our program was Adam Bain. Adam gave us an update on the upcoming bags tournament. Each year it is growing and will soon be known (if not already) as "The Bix" of the bags tourneys in the midwest. It is a premier event in the area because of the professional way it is run and this doesn't go unnoticed by the premier teams that come to compete. There will be 128 team slots to fill and we can all help through sponsorships and/or signing up teams.
In Fun and Fellowship, Paul Lamoureux won the preliminary prize and chose to play on. Michael Swartz played for the big money but went home empty handed.
