Club President, Craig Knobloch, called the April 18 meeting to order. Jonathan Turner again handled the entertainment, along with his Bill Nelson Singing in the Rain All-Star Band and Chorale.
Bill Nelson explained to all those Club members who weren't able to make the spring egg hunt, formerly known as Easter egg hunt, that there was a combination rain/snow/wet grounds postponement of this event, but it is now rescheduled for next Saturday, rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, it will be held at RIFAC.
Tom Plechaty, once again demonstrating the miracles of modern medicine, informed us that Rose Day sales exceeded last year's performance and commended the Club members for their participation. Remember that the big day is April 27.
John Califf reminded those in attendance that the April 18 Interclub would be a dinner meeting in Annawan.
Yes, it's that time of year again, and our favorite slinged golfer, Gene Smith, gave another of what should be numerous reminders on Birdies for Charity.
President Craig announced that Kiwanis Pancake Day was going to be revived and that the venue would be the annual Criterium in downtown Rock Island. As an adroit touch, Craig also mentioned that with the Criterium being held on Memorial Day, this event would also constitute that week's meeting.
Guests included representatives of the Rock Island High School and Alleman High School Key Clubs.
In Fun and Fellowship, Bill Nelson won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club. For the grand prize, the Kartel won the opportunity to lose, this time, with the assistance of a representative of the Rock Island High School varsity basketball team.
