Rose Day Orders are due in to Denise Ormsby by Friday, April 8th.

That means you have less than two weeks to sell!  If you did not receive the email yesterday with a pdf of the order form and wish to use this to sell via email, please contact me, daryl@gaselectriccu.com, and I can email this to you.

The Opening Act

President Craig "High Roller" Knobloch was back in town to conduct our March 28 meeting.  Jonathan Turner was also present to provide the entertainment for the occasion along with his Kiwanis Nathan Detroit Singers.

Craig was so excited to get back into the swing of things that he forgot his Kiwanis crib sheet, so since he didn't know who was supposed to lead song leading, and the person who was supposed to lead the singing took advantage of Craig's momentary disorientation, we were all granted a reprieve from singing.

Rose Day is coming soon.  I would imagine most all of us could use a few extra points at home or at work, so take advantage of this excellent buy.  Rose Day will be April 27.

For the Kids Against Hunger project, we need a total of 10 volunteers for this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the old Wayne Montgomery building on North Brady Street.  If we cannot assemble enough volunteers, we will have to take a pass on this venture.  Please check your calendar and participate if at all possible.

Adam Bain gave a short presentation concerning the status of the bags tournament.  With the bag boards assembled, Adam and his crew have been lining up events for other organizations that might want to make use of our setup and have already gotten into an exhaustive effort in doing this.  Hopefully, they won't be too worn out by the time our tournament comes up in the fall.

Fearless Moline leader, Mel Peterson, gave us a heads-up that he would be soliciting ideas for unique service projects.

Al Beck announced that $64 had been received for the benefit of the food pantry.

In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize and also qualified for the grand prize, but the wiley skills of Mike Bell won the day for the Club treasury, even with that spare pair of dice that Mike always keeps with him in the event the original set ever manages to grow legs and finds itself in Duncan Reid's pocket.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by Jamie Jarrett, Assistant General Manager of the QC River Bandits.  He gave a brief personal background on himself, explaining that he has had experience both in the Cardinals farm system, as well as the Cubs.  He's been in the minor league baseball game since shortly after graduating from college.  He explained some changes at the ball park, including a new scoreboard, a new plaza outside the park, and a new flood wall which may be broken in relatively soon.  There is also to be an enclosed skydeck by mid-season.  The Bandits will be hosting this year's Midwest League All Star Game.  He also left team schedules, laying out what appears to be a significant set of programs and coming events for the year.
