Volume 90 No 23       March 14, 2011
Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates
Rose Day Ticket Books are now available.  Rose Day is April 27th, so let's get out there and sell.  A pdf version will be available soon for email orders.
The Opening Act

President Craig Knobloch called the meeting of March 14 to order.

The first announcement was to the effect that the joint gathering with Rotary would be this coming Friday night.  Contact Dick Fislar if you're interested.

The next Interclub meeting will be next Tuesday, March 22, for a dinner meeting in Geneseo.  Please contact Steve Schroder if you're interested.

Tom Plechaty announced that order cards are available for Rose Day.  Make a few points and order some.

Various Happy Dollars included a glad-to-be-back dollar from Dale Grabau.  To paraphrase and summarize Dale's extremely wise statements, think about going home tonight and using those candles you still have wrapped up for a special occasion.

In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize.  John Kustes won the opportunity to go for the big bucks but managed to let them slip through his fingers.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by professional speaker and top-selling author, Dave "The Shef" Sheffield.  Dave's presentation was basically a humorous, but very insightful presentation on attitude and how it affects how one gets from one point to another.  He brought along a slide presentation to assist.  Attitude, intake and associations together control one's destination.  Other thoughts for the day include bringing energy home, learning from that always-upbeat golden retriever you or one of your friends has, and remembering the three phases of goal setting:  irrational excitement, the cocoon, being flexible and taking action.

Future Attractions

March 21         Bill Nelson, Parks Director, Train Festival 2011

March 28         Jamie Jarrett, QC River Bandits

April 4             Sonita Oldfield-Carlson, The Farm at Skeeter Creek

April 11           Dan Lee, Augustana College

April 18           Easter Egg Filling (attention Key Clubs and Builders

                      Clubs)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

"Somehow bad situations at home always become worse by the time he leaves."

- Dale Grabau, talking about when his longtime neighbor and friend, Tom Plechaty, stops by to visit
