Club President, Craig Knobloch, called the meeting of Monday, February 21 to order. Entertainment was again provided by Jonathan Turner and his Kiwanis Slalom Songsters. Attendance was a bit lower than usual, no doubt attributable to those whose work schedules allowed them to celebrate Presidents' Day by doing something other than coming to the Botanical Center for a noon lunch.
Tom Ketelaar reported on the Use It or Luge It activity earlier the same day. Despite slushy conditions, there was apparently a very fast track for the over 20 participants who engaged in the fun and fellowship. Television coverage was anticipated through the KWQC crew who came to the scene. Congratulations are in order to the crew who participated in planning and running the event, especially Tom who, as always, put the yeoman's effort into the activity.
Liz Loveless reported a Bowl-A-Thon to be held this Sunday in Kewanee. Once again, as President Craig wisely pointed out, financial support for this event was assured through pledges specified by amount rather than scores.
According to Steve Schroder, by the time you receive this newsletter, you will have undoubtedly missed the next Interclub held Tuesday, February 22 at noon at The Lodge with the Bettendorf Club.
Rumor has it that local Kiwanians may be gathering by the river March 12 for a special Night with the Mallards. As information is obtained, it will be passed on to you.
In Fun and Fellowship, Steve Schroder won the preliminary prize of $3, which he graciously donated back to the Club. The Kartel won the opportunity to go for the grand prize, which the group won.
