President Craig Knobloch called the meeting of January 10 to order. Providing the entertainment was Jonathan Turner and the Kiwanis Tennessee Clog Dancers. Announcements were led by Dick Fislar who reminded us that our joint gathering with Rotary will be Wednesday, January 19. This year, the show will begin with appetizers starting at 5:00 p.m. Dick started handing out tickets at the meeting, so if you have bought tickets and weren't able to attend the January 10 meeting, make sure you make arrangements with Dick to get your tickets.
John Califf informed us that the next Interclub would be with the East Moline/Silvis Club Monday, January 24. Contact John for further details. Your Editor's recollection is that this is a supper meeting.
President Craig informed us that next Monday, the QCCA will be housing the Annual Farm Show. Accounting for the anticipated traffic for this event, there will be designated parking on the grounds of the Botanical Center. If you're planning on attending the meeting January 17, remember to inform the gatekeepers that you are a member of Kiwanis. Otherwise, you may find yourself displaying your car in one of the animal pens.
Tom Ketelaar gave us another run at the Use It or Luge It activity to be held February 21. This is the date for recognizing Presidents Day, so if your business will let you off, or if you want to have some outdoor fun, consider helping out Tom and his committee on this event.
Guests included members of the Alleman High School Key Club.
We were fortunate to entertain two Interclubs, one group from Aledo, and the other group from the East Moline/Silvis Club.
In Fun and Fellowship, Dick Timmer won the preliminary prize, which he graciously threw back into the pot. The Kartel won the opportunity to go for the grand prize, and Bob Wakefield managed to wrest a few bucks out of Mike Bell's hands.
