President Craig Knobloch called the meeting to order. Entertainment was again provided by Jonathan Turner and the Kiwanis Ski Bum Chorus.
Tom Plechaty gave his final cheese report but his first plea to pick up cheese orders. Remember, folks, it's always better fresh.
Dick Fislar again reminded us of the January 19 outing at Circa with the Rock Island Rotary Club. If you have not yet paid Dick for your tickets, please do so.
Tracee Keefer reported that Salvation Army bell ringing would be this Saturday at the Rock Island and Milan Hy-Vee stores. She still needs some dingalings for the Milan site, so if you thought you might fill the bill from looking in the mirror recently, please give her a call.
Alicia Shuman reported on the status of the King Center Christmas party. She expressed her thanks to everyone who assisted in the wrap session this past Saturday and encouraged all who could to participate next Wednesday, September 15. She needs some assistance around 3:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church site for the purpose of getting things ready. Doors are scheduled to open at 5:00 but that time may be flexible.
Steve Schroder again reminded us that the next Interclub outing would be December 16 for the annual Davenport Club's Tom & Jerry excursion to the Outing Club. Dick Fislar can be approached for travel packages to and from.
Craig informed the group that the annual Bad Gift Exchange would be held December 20. For those who remember how this deal works, please do the usual. For those who are unfamiliar with this Club tradition, the rules are fairly simple. Go to your attic or basement, find something that you no longer need and don't think would sell at a garage sale, wrap it, and bring it to the meeting December 20. Set it and forget it!
President Craig is uncertain as to how the Club would be handling what would ordinarily be a meeting date on December 27. Further information will be forthcoming.
Tom Ketelaar informed us that the second annual Use It or Luge It Fest will be held February 21. Crank up your soapbox derby talents, put a luge together, and get ready for a good time.
In Fun and Fellowship, Ron Quay won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club. Bob Tapprich qualified to win the grand prize but did a beautiful job of losing Mike Bell's game of the week.
