Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates
2nd Annual Kiwanis-Pepsi Bags Tournament, Saturday, September 18th, Noon - 6 pm, Schwiebert Riverfront Park
The Opening Act
As of starting time of the meeting, Jonathan Turner was missing and Club President, Adam Bain, had not yet materialized.  We were able to beam in Craig Knobloch, who ably handled Club governance until Adam showed up.
Liz handled initial announcements by reminding us again of the September 18 bags tournament, as well as the October 2 NAMI walk on Credit Island.
Special guest of the day was Claudia Buchanan, our incoming Division Lieutenant Governor.
A card of condolence was circulated in memory of Dale Grabau's son.
Once Adam showed up, he gave a second pitch on the bags tournament and reminded everyone of the discounted registration good until August 25.  Adam and his crew have gone gangbusters on sponsorships, and now we need registrations to match that enthusiasm.
The Club membership was delighted with another one of our seasonal visits from that renowned blues singer, Daryl "Saltmarsh" Townsend.
In Fun and Fellowship, Steve Andich won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club.  Bill Nelson won the honor of going for the grand prize, which Mike Bell once again dangled before his eyes and then quickly withdrew.
The Feature Attraction
The program was given by renowned area "recovery specialist", Wade Argo.  Wade explained what his business was like and was quick to distance himself from the types of repo men entertaining us on cable TV.  Wade has been in the business for 24 years and, before then, was a uniformed law enforcement officer.  Wade's business works in Iowa, Illinois and Indiana.  He has nine people working with him.  Wade entertained our gathering with anecdotes of past cases.
