The Opening Act
The meeting of May 10 was conducted by the officers of the Rock Island High School Key Club.  Craig Knobloch handled Club officer duties.  He began by announcing that the program scheduled for next Monday, May 17, is to be rescheduled and in place of the planned presenter, we would be visited by the Executive Director of the Quad City Classic.  In that same golf vein, our May 24 program will feature the Fyre Lake golf course.
Tom Plechaty announced that approximately $1,650 was received from the Rose Day project, and approximately $3,000 from this past weekend's peanut project.  All members are to be commended for their generosity of time and money.
Gene Smith gave his weekly pitch for Birdies for Charity.  He also informed us that Monday, August 9, would be the division golf outing.
Craig clarified two points concerning Hixson Award nominees and Lay Person of the Year nominees.  The former should be passed on to any Board member.  The latter can be passed on to any member of the Spiritual Aims committee.
Guests included members of the Alleman High School Key Club.
In Fun and Fellowship, Joe Beatty won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club.  For the grand prize, the Kartel won the chance to play but Lee Schenck, despite her best effort, missed out on the grand prize.
The Feature Attraction
The program was given by member, Berlinda Tyler Jamison, Executive Director of the Trinity Health Foundation.  During the course of her presentation, she addressed four questions that are often presented to her, what the Foundation is, what it does, why it does what it does, and why people should be interested.
