Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates

Rose Day, April 21st.  We need your help to sell roses for the first big fundraiser for 2010.  Make sure to pickup order forms at the next meeting, or we will have a pdf order form available soon you can email to friends and colleagues.
The Opening Act
Our President, Adam Bain, presided over the Club meeting of March 15.  We mourned the absence of Jonathan Turner by not singing, which, come to think of it, wasn't too bad of an idea, although we did miss Jonathan.
Liz Loveless reported on the bowling outing.  Our high scorer was Joe Beatty, and our virtually pinless award winner was Liz.  Pledges brought in $450 to the Club.
Bill Nelson reminded us that next Monday, the 22nd, will be our annual Park District egg-stuffing session.  The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for March 27 and, as always, Bill could use some volunteers.
Rose Day tickets are being hawked, even as we speak, by our most illustrious former leader and deposed Queen, Denise "Daphne" Ormsby.
In the absence of Joe Robb, Tom Hanson reminded us of the March 22 Interclub with the East Moline/Silvis Club at Illini Hospital.  Latex examination gloves will be issued at the door.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation to past President John Kustes, who received the Legion of Honor Award for 30 years of membership.  Congratulations John!
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won both the preliminary prize and the right to go for the grand prize.  Chuck Dyson made a clean sweep for the Kartel.
The Feature Attraction
The program was given by our own longtime Club member and past President, Gene Smith.  Gene's presentation focused on his business, Total Media of Bettendorf.  Gene began with a personal history, explaining that he got his start in media relations back when he was a Bradley University student.  Gene cited some of his past work history leading up to his development of Total Media.  Gene provided flyers spelling out some of the activities in which his company is engaged, as well as some of the clients he has worked with.  Web design and hosting is a new function of Total Media.  Gene also gave some insight into his mysterious and frequent out-of-country golf outings.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

"One of the nice things about problems is that a good many of them do not exist."
