Club President, Adam Bain, called
our meeting to order March 1. Jonathan
Turner again provided the entertainment with his Kiwanis Triple Toe Loop
Singers.
Much to the pained sorrow of the
members in attendance, the song portion of the meeting was postponed for this
week.
Joe Robb reported that the next
Interclub would be March 22 at Illini Hospital with the East Moline/Silvis
Club. The meeting will start at 6:00,
followed by lab tests.
On May 10, our Kiwanis Governor
will be in attendance at an outing with Salvation Army. More details will follow. In the alternative, you can always contact
Dave Luft.
Liz Loveless announced the
Division Bowl-A-Thon to be held March 14 at Highland Park Bowl. Our team, Rock Island Kiwanis, has already
been identified and solicitations for contributions have begun. Shake the wrinkles out of your favorite
polyester shirt and get ready for a good time.
The Governor's visit will be in
Kewanee on March 3.
Steve Schroder provided the Club
with info about the trivia night being sponsored by the East Moline/Silvis Club
on March 12. For those of you who have a
knack for remembering useless facts, give Steve a call.
In Fun and Fellowship, Les Bohnert
won the preliminary prize, which he graciously donated back to the Club. Joe Beatty won the right to go for the grand
prize, which he managed to win, much to the chagrin of Mike "Quick Draw" Bell.
We were delighted to participate
in the induction of four new members, Maggie, Julie, Dave and Steve. Make these fine folks feel welcome.
Tom Ketelaar showed two very
well-done film clips involving Club activities.
One was the WQAD report on Use It or Luge It. The second displayed the Coats for Kids drive
which the Club worked with Old Navy.
Finally, President Adam announced
that with the bags tournament coming up in September, it is about time that his
committee formed to start preparing for this event. If you'd like to participate, give Adam a
call.
