Editor Daryl apologizes for the extremely late delivery this week.
Our President, Adam
Bain, called the meeting or order.
Jonathan Turner again led the entertainment, this time, accompanying Lee
Schenck and the Kiwanis Shrek Chorus.
For his first
announcement, Adam happily related that the details were finally in order to
bring two new members into the Club on a formal basis.
In the absence of
Joe Robb, Adam also announced that the Interclub with the Moline group would be
January 26.
In the absence of
Daryl Empen, Adam reminded us of our Circa get-together Wednesday night.
We should have all
received communications from Daryl Empen concerning the website and accessing
the personal information section at the website. I'd suggest saving this mailing until we can
commit the procedure to memory.
For the highlight of
the meeting, we all joined in recognizing and honoring longtime member, Milt
Hedquist, who received his 30-year Legion of Merit Award. Milt related that as it so happened, he
hadn't been able to join the Club until after he retired.
Guests included prospective
members brought by Mike Bell and Tom Stontz, as well as representatives of the
Alleman High School and Rock Island High School Key Clubs, the latter group
also bringing along the Principal of Rock Island High School, Robert Mason.
In the Happy/Sad
Dollar segment, Tom Ketelaar reminded us of another new project coming up on
President's Day, which will be the First Annual Sledding Regatta. We will hear more about this in future
newsletters.
Liz Loveless also
highlighted information she had distributed at each table concerning a St.
Ambrose University sponsored trip to India.
In Fun and
Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize, which enabled it to go only
$3 into the hole in its participation this week. Jerry Upchurch won the opportunity to win the
grand prize, which he managed to lose.
