  Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates
Rose Day, Wednesday, April 22nd

Peanut Day, May 8-9
Opening Act
In the absence of Queen Daphne, Adam Bain filled in and called the meeting to order.  As always, entertainment was provided by Jonathan Turner and his Stone Street Strummers Banjo Band.
John Califf gave an announcement on how Daryl Townsend has been faring.  Daryl is back home from the hospital but still is in the recovery phase of some very strenuous procedures.  A card was being circulated, and if you'd like to contact Daryl directly, I'm sure he would appreciate it.
Dave Umphrey reminded us that on April 19, our Club will have the opportunity to participate in the Children's Therapy Telethon.  There will be future announcements on this, but our Club's block of time will run from approximately 4:00 to 5:00.  Contact Dave if you would be interested.
We were also informed that on April 25 at 8:00 a.m., Rod Jennings and his organization will have a project in which we can participate.
Bill Nelson gave us a reminder that our program next week will be watching ourselves stuff Easter eggs for the Park District's annual Easter egg hunt.  The hunt itself will occur April 4 and all that are able are invited to participate.
Order blanks are available for Rose Day on April 22.
Liz Loveless reminded us of the NAMI Walk scheduled for May 2 on Credit Island.  Contrary to past experience, Liz has been assured by a variety of clergy members that the weather will be great and it will not be necessary to bring along your snorkel and flippers.
In Fun and Fellowship, the Kartel won the preliminary prize.  The Kartel also drew the lucky number to participate in the grand prize but, try as he might, Gary Miner wasn't able to snatch victory from the Mike Bell Jaws of Defeat.
The Feature Attraction
The program was presented by Samantha DeYoung of Rock Island County Animal Care and Control.  The presentation involved a brief opening on the facilities themselves, where the center is at, and its capacity for animals.  We were informed of what services are provided at the shelter, including vaccinations and spaying.  Also discussed were funding of the shelter, how animals come in, how matches are made with their humans, volunteer opportunities, and a few brief words on QC Paws.

Future Attractions
