Kiwanis Night at the QC Flames, March 7th
Rose Day, Wednesday, April 22nd
| |
| Opening Act |
President Denise Ormsby called the
meeting to order. Entertainment was provided
by Jonathan Turner and his Kiwanis Red Hot Chili Pepper Band.
Our
first announcement was by the President of the Alleman High School Key Club,
who shared a number of brochures with the membership concerning the Club's
sponsor of the symposium scheduled for Sunday, March 22 from 2:00 to 4:00. It appears to be an excellent program and
will feature distinguished speakers, including our member and outgoing Mayor,
Mark Schwiebert, and boasts of subject matter that would be of interest to all.
Our
Lieutenant Governor was in attendance, and he gave preliminary mention about
the District bowling at Highland Park Bowl this weekend, the mega-meeting March
17, and the Governor's visit April 4.
Alicia
Shuman reminded us of Hockey Night on March 7.
It was announced that Dave Umphrey had sold the most tickets and,
consequently, won the right to stand in the middle of the rink at the end of
the first period as the living target for Chuck-A-Puck.
Liz Loveless solicited donations for the District
bowling tournament and was pleased with the results.
Tickets
will be available next week for our Rose Day, which again will be held in
conjunction with Administrative Professionals Day.
Guests
included those of Mike Swartz and Jerry Jones, as well as representatives of
the Alleman High School Key Club.
The
Happy/Sad Dollar program feature included one from President Daphne, who was very
pleased to have been able to make it out of the Dominican Republic alive after her GPS system apparently didn't help her much.
In
Fun and Fellowship, Dave Bender won the preliminary prize, which he graciously
donated back to the Club. Bob Tapprich
won the right to go for the grand prize and, egged on as always by the intrepid
Mike Bell, managed to leave his money on the table as well.
