  Upcoming Events/Fundraisers/Dates
Kiwanis Night at the QC Flames, March 7th

Rose Day, Wednesday, April 22nd
Opening Act
President Denise Ormsby called our meeting to order at the beautiful new Jumer's Hotel and Casino.  Despite missing her usual props of a podium, microphone, and riser, she handled things pretty well.
As what must have been a test to see if anyone reads the newsletter, Queen Daphne did a turn and asked the membership what the coming events were.  Prizes were awarded to those who either knew or made up something close to reality.  These events include Hockey Night March 7, the Governor's visit April 4, putt putt golf Wednesday through Friday of this week, the bags tournament in September, Rose Day April 22, an Interclub with the Rock Island Golden K Club on February 26 at Friendship Manor, the Mid-Winter District Conference this coming weekend in Decatur, and the Bowl-A-Thon March 8.  If you need more details on any of these events, please feel free to call Denise any time, day or night, at work or at home and she'll gladly regale you not only with more information about the dates, but no doubt with colorful language that she recalls from back in her school days.
We were happy to welcome two individuals into our fellowship as new members, Kevin Murphy and Meagan Hershbarger.
In Fun and Fellowship, the preliminary $6 prize went to Adam Bain, who graciously donated his winnings back to the Club.  The opportunity for the grand prize went to the Kartel, which tried to win $6 on $8 of contributions, but Mike Bell managed to reel in the money for the benefit of the Club.
The Club hadn't had a chance to enjoy what members have come to know as Grabau-isms for a while, so we were tickled by his offering this week.  Apparently, the Grabaus are celebrating their 39th anniversary.  Dale offered that his dear and long-suffering wife indicated she wanted to go out to eat to celebrate the occasion but, to Dale's disappointment, she wasn't able to come to the meeting.
The Feature Attraction
The program consisted of a tour of the beautiful new Jumer's facility.  The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and very reasonable.  Restaurant facilities and the casino itself boast many of the qualities of the better Las Vegas casinos with the added attractiveness of a lot of space, high ceilings, and good customer traffic accommodations.

Future Attractions

Feb. 16            Jerry Jones, Martin Luther King Center expansion
Feb. 23            Eric Rowell, Washington DC highlights
