Empowering Families to Thrive
finance

Financial abuse is often a factor in a survivor's decision to stay in a violent relationship.Providing the tools to be financially independent empowers survivors and gives them the confidence to secure their own futures and self-reliance.

The Allstate Foundation and The California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV) have partnered to provide selected domestic violence programs in California for the Rural Economic Empowerment Project (REEP).  Operation Care was recently awarded these funds to initiate collaboration in our community with social services, employment agencies, job training programs, financial planners and banks. The collaborations developed through these contacts will be leveraged to provide economic empowerment assistance to survivors of domestic violence including:

  • Financial fundamentals
  • Education and job training
  • Coaching on job-readiness and employment seeking skills
  • Transportation, child care, career clothing and professional materials
  • Development of personal financial plans
  • Credit reports/credit counseling
  • Assistance with budgeting, debt-reduction, saving and investing
  • Banking practices and account management
  • Training through the Allstate Foundation's Economics Against Abuse Financial Empowerment Curriculum: Moving Ahead Through Financial Management
  • Other innovative services designed to promote increased economic empowerment

By arming survivors with financial knowledge, skills and resources, we are helping survivors end the cycle of violence to live - and thrive - free from abuse.
