The Love Boat is coming....SAVE THE DATE!
Faces of Amador - August 2nd
Love Boat Everyone remembers the fun of The Love Boat not so many years ago!  Well, it's coming to Amador County as the latest FACES OF AMADOR fun-filled presentation of local talent.  Those of you who have attended past FACES performances know what a fun evening it can be...tell your friends and save the date of AUGUST 2.

Not only will you share the fun of the crew and their shenanigans, you'll be part of the stories of the passengers as only they could be told in true LOVE BOAT style.  We'll be offering a meal of char- grilled steak sandwiches and accompaniments cooked by the mess crew of the Sutter Creek Native Sons of the Golden West.

PLUS....we'll be raffling a wonderful prize of a 5-day Carnival Cruise to Mexico for two, including airfare to San Diego and overnight stay!  Someone will win their own LOVE BOAT experience...why not you?  Raffle tickets will be on sale soon for $5 each or 5 for $20.

Show tickets will be sold for $40.00 per person so plan now to set sail on AUGUST 2, 2008!  ALL ABOARD....
ABUSE in the Developmentally Disabled Community
Arc photoOn March 26th, Operation Care conducted an educational forum on abuse in the developmentally disabled community, co-sponsored by The ARC.
According to Glenn Pollock of the Consumer Abuse Awareness Team, "Studies have shown that at least 80% of adult women and 54% of adult men have been sexually assaulted in their lives."  This forum, successfully attended by seventy vive members of the community, highlighted a presentation by four individuals with disabilities.  The topics included cultural abuse, the right to personal boundaries and privacy, defenselessness of abuse and issues of sexual assault and domestic violence.
DINE OUT FOR OPERATION CARE
Dine Out Jose's April was Sexual Assault Month and to promote that important time, five restaurants in Amador County, RESTAURANT TASTE, BELLOTTI'S, CAFFE VIA D'ORO, TWISTED FORK  and JOSE'S each committed to a portion of their revenues on all the Thursdays in April.  Thanks to the support of many community members who took advantage of the opportunity, the program was a success.  We hope to make it an annual April event.
We so appreciate the continuing support that you have given us to allow us to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Amador County.  In addition to services at our safe house, Operation Care has provided crisis intervention and counseling for 175 individuals, assisted with 46 restraining orders, offered court advocacy to 61 people, accompanied 13 rape victims to U.C. Davis for medical exams, and gave educational presentations to thousands of community members in 2007.  We could not have accomplished any of this without your support.
Thank you....
