cupcoming show @ mezze bistro features Berkshire Artists
MMLilliatMezze

Mezze Bistro + Bar of Williamstown will host an art opening on Monday, July 11, featuring selected works from Berkshire-based artists Melissa Matsuki Lillie and Sean Riley, from 5 to 7 pm. The event is free and open to the public, with light snacks and a cash bar.

Melissa Matsuki Lillie's artwork references natural and man-made forms using a personal visual language of vibrant colors and complex layers to reflect the macroscopic and microscopic world. Her paintings evoke a sense of space that has been flattened and layered, revealing strands and structures of line and color interacting fluidly with hidden landscapes.

Sean Riley received his BFA in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, MA, in 1999.  He then went onto the University of Pennsylvania to receive his MFA in Painting in 2004. The artwork selected for Mezze comes from Riley's latest body of work that takes inspiration from an extended stay in Italy as well as a fascination with quilt patterns. As part of his artistic practice, Riley is now making quilts in addition to paintings.

eFrom Comedian Lewis Black: One Slight Hitch @ Williamstown Theatre Festival

One Slight Hitch  @ Williamstown Theatre Festival - July 6 - 17
by Lewis Black directed by Joe Grifasie
Comedian and playwright Lewis Black comes home to WTF with a modern day farce that mocks the all-too-human desire to shape our own destiny. It's Courtney's wedding day, and her mom, Delia, is making sure that everything is perfect. The groom is perfect, the dress is perfect, and the decorations (assuming they arrive) will be perfect. Then, like in any good farce the doorbell rings.  And all hell breaks loose.  So much for perfect. Black will also host the first two weekends of the renowned WTF Late-Night Cabaret Series (July 7-9 and July 21-23). Black will also be performing an evening of his unique stand-up comedy on Monday, July 18 at 7:30 on the Main Stage. All proceeds from this event will support WTF's educational and professional development programs.

Enjoy delicious farm-to-table dining at Mezze Bistro + Bar and catch a production at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Eat. Play. Love in the Berkshires... where talent spends the summer. If you would like to dine before or after a Williamstown Theatre Festival performance this summer, Mezze has made things easy so you can get to the theatre on time. Click here to learn more.

Charlie Chaplin's The Kid with live score by Marc Ribot
@ MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA
Saturday, July 9, 9:00 pm
Courtyard C or Hunter Center

The visionary Marc Ribot, "one of the most individual of guitarists and a master of introverted ironies," (Village Voice) turns his attention to one of Chaplin's greatest films. Ribot's haunting solo guitar score makes this classic contemporary, taking its story of a single father struggling to raise his son during the Depression and making it relevant to the today's economic and social conditions. Poignant, funny, and mesmerizing, the work is a unique conversation between artistic geniuses of the past and present. Click here for tickets, video & more!
