Add a spark of adventure to your next group outing
Bonding, teambuilding, reuniting or just having fun - whatever you want to call it, recreational activities that include everyone are an important part of any group outing. They're the things that bring people together, create memories and generate stories about the trip for years to come. We're working with Zoar Outdoor to create Group Adventure Packages - combining overnight rooms at Porches, a communal gathering in one of our private meeting rooms or outdoor spaces, and an activity at Zoar - rafting, paddling, rock climbing or zip-lining. In addition, you and your group will enjoy our healthful continental breakfast buffet, a morning coffee/tea break, a delicious catered lunch, and an afternoon combination break of coffee/tea, cookies, and fresh fruit. Group Adventure Packages start at $219 per person (inclusive). If you are interested in our straight-up Complete Meeting Package (sans adventure!), please let us know and we'll be glad to tell you all about it. Contact Jana St. Germain at 413.664.0400 or meet@porches.com and we'll set up a time to review the components with you and work with you to put together a complete package.

Hancock Shaker Village will present a Shaker Farm-to-Table Dinner on Thursday, June 16 to benefit the living history museum's agricultural education programs. Chefs from all around Berkshire County (including Chef Brian Alberg from our sister property The Red Lion Inn) will celebrate the beauty and bounty of the Shaker gardens with a menu inspired by Amy Bess Miller's classic cookbook, The Best of Shaker Cooking. Enjoy this locally-sourced meal on historic Shaker grounds, steps away from the famous Round Stone Barn and stay at Porches for just $99 (any room type based on availability); stay Thursday night and add a room on Friday at our weekday rates! To reserve, please call 413.664.0400 or email us at  reservations@porches.com.

Bureau of Open Culture

Work Site, part of the Bureau for Open Culture 's larger I Am Searching for Field Character project at MASS MoCA, invites freelancers in the area who work at home to participate in their pop-up co-working space.

Wifi is available, bring your own materials. Bureau for Open Culture curator Jim Voorhies says of Work Site, "It's a nice way to build community among individuals who do not engage socially in a workplace and to hopefully make contacts that generate more work for one another."

Work Site will be open May 28-September 30, 2011 during Museum Hours.

eUnwind at Mass Moca's >Beer Garden !
Beer Garden 2

Every Thursday and Friday from 5 - 10PM
Unwind after checking in with picnic tables situated alongside the Hoosic River in MASS MoCA's backyard,  >Beer Garden, part of the Bureau for Open Culture's larger I Am Searching for Field Character project at MASS MoCA, serves beer from a local brewery along with soft pretzels made in Vermont. It's a pretty simple operation. But it functions on many levels. It is a place for museum visitors and the North Adams community to intermingle outside on summer evenings while supplying a necessary economic stream for Bureau for Open Culture to operate its programming, pay participating artists, print materials and purchase supplies for I Am Searching for Field Character.

>Beer Garden raises questions about what is cultural work, dissolving lines between different kinds of service industries.
