Add a spark of adventure to your next group outing

Bonding, teambuilding, reuniting or just having fun - whatever you want to call it, recreational activities that include everyone are an important part of any group outing.  They're the things that bring people together, create memories and generate stories about the trip for years to come.  We're working with Zoar Outdoor to create Group Adventure Packages - combining overnight rooms at Porches, a communal gathering in one of our private meeting rooms or outdoor spaces, and an activity at Zoar - rafting, paddling, rock climbing or zip-lining.  In addition, you and your group will enjoy our healthful continental breakfast buffet, a morning coffee/tea break, a delicious catered lunch, and an afternoon combination break of coffee/tea, cookies, and fresh fruit. Group Adventure Packages start at $219 per person (inclusive). If you are interested in our straight-up Complete Meeting Package (sans adventure!), please let us know and we'll be glad to tell you all about it. Contact Jana St. Germain at 413.664.0400 or meet@porches.com and we'll set up a time to review the components with you and work with you to put together a complete package.

The Workers Mass MoCA

The Workers Opens at MASS MoCA starting May 29

What does work look like today in a global economy marked by outsourcing, rapid migration, disruptive economies, and a state of labor that seems fractured, precarious, and almost invisible? With video, sculpture, photography, and performance art from 25 artists, The Workers examines the way labor is represented today (and how some contemporary workers choose to represent themselves).

Mount Greylock in the Spring

Hike Mount Greylock!
At 3,491 feet, Mount Greylock is the highest point in Massachusetts. Make your way up to catch awesome views of the surrounding Berkshire landscape, some 60-90 miles around. Mt. Greylock became Massachusetts' first wilderness state park, acquired by the Commonwealth in 1898, to preserve its natural environment for your enjoyment. Wild and rugged yet intimate and accessible, Mount Greylock rewards the visitor exploring this special place of scenic and natural beauty. Click here to plan your visit to Mount Greylock!

Satiate Your Inner Geology Geek !
Discover a geologic wonder at the 48-acre Natural Bridge State Park. Examine the only naturally formed white marble arch and man-made white marble dam in North America, and tour an abandoned marble quarry. The "natural bridge" for which the park is named, according to geologists, is 550 million year old bedrock marble, carved into an arch by the force of glacial melt water over 13,000 years ago; one of the best places in New England to demonstrate the effects of glaciation. The bridge spans rushing Hudson Brook as it twists and tumbles through a steep 60-foot deep gorge.

Studio 21 South

"Inside/Out" featuring the work of Katy Schneider & David Gloman
From June 4-July 10

Feast your eyes on this joint exhibition of a Northampton-based couple. Schneider, a Lecturer at Smith College, paints the interior of the family home, sometimes capturing it in its anarchic natural state, other times organizing its artifacts into carefully composed still lives.  Gloman, a Resident Artist at Amherst College, turns his attention outdoors. Working on site, he by turns captures the feral, evanescent qualities of the natural environment or plucks order from chaos, placing it into quiet compositions.

Studio21south is located at 189 Beaver Street/Route 8, in North Adams.
