WELCOME OUR NEW
SALES ASSOCIATE
Maura Mattoon has recently been appointed Group Sales Associate, replacing Gayle Almeida, who was promoted to Corporate Sales Manager. A graduate of St. Anselm College, she has worked with us for a number of years as a server in our dining room. After college, Maura spent over a year in New York City, working for JWT on several global accounts.  We are happy to welcome her home to the Berkshires and The Red Lion Inn, where she'll be responsible for small and mid-sized food & beverage events at the Inn. Maura is just the latest in a long line of hospitality professionals who have maintained our tradition of excellent guest service, and she's looking forward to this next stage of her career. Send her a note or an RFP at maura@redlioninn.com.

MORE KUDOS FROM NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TRAVELER traveler
You may recall that this respected travel magazine named The Red Lion Inn to its 2008 Stay List. In November, National Geographic Traveler named the Berkshires region to its "Places Rated List."
The region was ranked #7 in the world for having "qualities that make a destination unique" and for maintaining its "integrity of place." After doing a little math, it turns out that
The Red Lion Inn is the best place to stay in one of the best places on earth!
YANKEE READERS LIKE US, TOO   Yankee small

This month we were pleased to be recognized in Yankee Magazine's "Readers' Choice for Best of New England: 2010 Favorites" as one of the top three Inns in New England (and there are several!).

BERKSHIRE ATTRACTIONS
The Norman Rockwell Museum has been in the news quite a bit lately.  Now, they've teamed up with Hancock Shaker Village, The Mount and Chesterwood to create a pre- packaged itinerary - American Icons - with special group pricing.

One of our signs of the impending end of winter is the announcement of summer performing arts schedules. Most of these performances get cooking in June, but don't forget that a lot of these venues operate year round - Shakespeare & Co., Williamstown Theatre Festival, Tanglewood (including the intimate and beautiful Ozawa Hall), Jacobs Pillow,
Barrington Stage Company, and Mac-Haydn Theatre,

MID-WEEK AT TANGLEWOOD

Tanglewood creates an extraordinary kind of magic during the mid-week. All focus shifts to intimate Ozawa Hall, opened to international acclaim in 1994. From the warm teak of its interior to the gently sloping lawn outside, Ozawa Hall has all the coziness of a New England village meetinghouse coupled with the thrill of the world's greatest musicians performing up-close and personal.

This summer, Ozawa Hall recital highlights include:
July 6 - Emerson String Quartet
July 14 - The Boston Symphony Chamber Players
July 15 - The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio
July 22 - Bach's complete Solo Cello Suites played by Pieter Wispelwey
July 29 - Matthias Goerne, a renowned baritone
July 21 - Singer and harpist Benjamin Bagby recreates the epic Beowulf
August 18 - The Australian Chamber Orchestra
August 24, 26 - Garrick Ohlsson performing two all-Chopin piano recitals

Whether you love chamber music, vocal favorites, solo recitals, or simply enjoying romantic evenings under the stars, Ozawa Hall provides visitors with some of their
most endearing and exhilarating Tanglewood memories.
WHY DO TOUR GROUPS OF ALL SORTS LOVE
THE RED LION INN?
Here are a few points of interest about the Berkshires and The Red Lion Inn:
  • The Berkshires fits into two markets. We're part of New England, located just two hours due west of Boston and the MASS Pike. That puts us right on the New York border, and adjacent to the Hudson River Valley. New York City is about 2.5 hours away. That makes us a great way to freshen up an existing New England or New York Tour.
  • The Red Lion Inn offers a truly unique experience, and we welcome groups for meals and overnights.
  • For the most part, we take only one coach at a time, which we think is a nice feature.
  • Since we work regularly with groups, we offer the things you expect - personal welcome and greeting on the coach for overnight groups, luggage handling, gift shop coupons, history brochure and free, on-site coach parking.
  • Located in an Historic District, downtown Stockbridge offers a great place for "free time," including shops galleries, historic sites and pleasant walks. Not to mention the rockers on our front porch.
