A juried exhibition of photography at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts focuses on Pittsfield, from its gritty industrial side all the way through a variety of neighborhoods and setting to some of the soaring architectural beauty that graces the downtown area. The show highlights the work of local artists while offering new perspectives to film industry location scouts seeking exciting settings for scenes in upcoming movie projects. The challenge is that the stereotypical image of Berkshire County among many filmmakers is its old mansions, rolling hills, bucolic farmland and pastoral forests. Both Pittsfield and North Adams offer interesting urban settings for filmmakers and artists of all types. It's conceivable that Charles Sheeler would have inspired by our Berkshire cities!  The photos are posted on the Web here but consider a stop at the Lichtenstein Center on your next trip and see another facet of our rich Berkshire landscape.

Our friends at the Arcadian Shop in Lenox provide cross country ski rentals and access to the groomed trails of Kennedy Park (or visit one of several XC ski areas nestled in the hills of Berkshire County on a ski package from the Arcadian Shop).  Rental includes skis, boots, bindings, and poles for just $20 per day.

Cross country ski or snowshoe the groomed trails at Hilltop Orchards
- the scenic 20-mile views into the southern Berkshires are breathtaking and the pristine back country trails are a delight for more adventurous skiers. Afterward, warm up with some hot chocolate or cider after you ski or just relax by the fire with a glass of wine. Winter hours for skiing are Thursday-Sunday 9am-5pm, check their website for details on rental packages and daily updates of snow conditions.
