Lots to See and Do!

Norman Rockwell Museum
To Rockwell, With Love: Fan Mail and The Saturday Evening Post opens at the Norman Rockwell Museum on January 16th - step back in time to explore Rockwell's imagery for The Saturday Evening Post, which prompted an outpouring of reader reaction during the artist's forty-seven year tenure with the magazine. Shifting American values, reform and the New Deal, World War II and the rise of national identity, the Baby Boom and the rise of the middle class, and the politicization of the American populace are some of the themes that will be brought to life in this engaging and informative installation. Fan correspondence received by Rockwell himself, archival photographs, and the original Saturday Evening Post tearsheets that inspired such lively public response will be on view. Visit the Norman Rockwell Museum's website...

Stockbridge Library
On January 17, the Stockbridge Library - just down the street from the Inn - will feature a performance of "Cabaret-To-Go" by musicians from the Berkshire Music School. The featured vocalist is Sherri James Buxton who is on the voice faculty at the Music School. Sherri has performed on Broadway, in summer stock, and in numerous nightclubs and cabarets. She will be accompanied on the piano by Bob Shepherd, who is the pianist for the Adult Cabaret program at the Music School. This program will begin at 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For further information, please call the Stockbridge Library at 413-298-5501. Light refreshments will be served.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo
The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center has lots going on in the next few weeks... On Saturday, January 23, listen to Chamber Music from The Mostly Baroque Players, who will present a program of diverse vocal and instrumental selections drawn from the Baroque Period and especially featuring excerpts from George Frederick Handel's great oratorio "Judas Maccabeus". Grammy Award-winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo performs on Sunday, February 7 at 3pm. This legendary a cappella group represents the traditional culture of South Africa and is regarded as the country's cultural emissary at home and around the world. They have recorded with numerous artists, including Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, and Dolly Parton. Visit the Mahaiwe's website...

Les Dangerous Liaisons
Shakespeare & Company is presenting Les Liaisons Dangereuses beginning January 29... Devious plotting, sexual intrigue and motivations, Les Liaisons Dangereuses was ahead of its time in 1872, and remains ahead of its time today. A rich and deviously delightful feast of words and plot play, like a decadent chocolate you can't resist. Click here for more info...
