February is Love Your Body Month and at EDIN, we encourage everyone to appreciate and respect their body. If you are anything like me you might have made a few New Year's resolutions, many of which you won't keep. One resolution I did make, as I have every year since recovery from my own eating disorder 10 years ago, was to set kind intentions for myself and recognize that the goal of each new day is "progress not perfection". Lets face it, we all have areas of our lives we believe need work - the goal is to balance our desire for personal betterment with realistic expectations. Oftentimes, we are own worst critics. Yet, the path towards growth is not paved with harsh words and critical thoughts but rather with experience, hope and strength.

 2011 Merrick's Walk & 5K Fun Run
Sunday, March 27th
Join us at the Galloway School in Buckhead for the 11th annual Merrick's Walk. The event is a 2.7-mile walk or 5K run around Chastain Park in memory of Merrick Ryan, a 19-year old Galloway alum who passed away from anorexia in January 2000. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. All proceeds benefit EDIN (Eating Disorders Information Network), a non-profit organization committed to preventing and raising awareness about all types of disordered eating, from obesity to anorexia, and the promotion of positive body-esteem through education, outreach and action. We moved our walk/run from February to March in hopes of warmer weather!

Registered Dieticians and Eating Disorder Professionals Lunch & Learn
The RD & ED Professionals Networking Meetings are starting up again for this year. For our first 2011 meeting, the theme will be the national health theme of Eating Disorders Awareness Month and will be sponsored by EDIN. A light lunch will be provided and we will have a short presentation about upcoming Love Your Body Month activities and some resources to share with your clients. Page Love, RD will be leading our discussions.
