10 Summer Nutrition Tips

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying your summer. In most parts of the country, it's hot and humid, which can lead to many of us staying indoors and being inactive.  Don't let the summer heat put a damper on getting outside and being active - use caution and common sense to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Keep these basic precautions in mind when exercising outside:

  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Take it slow and easy. As your body adapts to the heat, you can gradually increase the length and intensity of your workout. (If you have a chronic medical condition or take medication, ask your doctor if you need to take additional precautions.)
  • Dress appropriately. Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
  • Avoid the midday sun. Exercise in the morning or evening when it's likely to be cooler outdoors.
  • Wear sunscreen.
  • If you're concerned about the heat or humidity, stay indoors. Go to a gym, walk laps inside the mall or climb stairs inside an air-conditioned building.
Regular physical activity is important; however, you don't need to let hot-weather workouts put your health at risk!

As always, many thanks for your continued support.

Kind regards,
