Happy Spring!
Spring time is liver time and a little liver love goes a long way! It is like making a big deposit in your health bank account.
In Chinese medicine, the liver is represented by the wood element, which is healthy and flexible when in balance. Similarly, when our livers are functioning well, we are healthy and flexible in both mind and spirit. Our livers are responsible for over 243 different functions in the body, and when it is clogged up and not working optimally, we can feel foggy, flabby, fatigued, get headaches and allergies, dry skin, nausea and bloating, insomnia, have high cholesterol and elevated liver function tests. Not fun.
So this is the ultimate season to lighten up and give our hard working livers some love.
So read on for: - Some simple tips to help your liver be all it can be
- Upcoming Spring Essential Cleanses- you can still join the next virtual Essential Cleanse!

50 Ways to Love your Liver!
Our livers perform and co-ordinate so many critical functions in the body that it is actually referred to as the general in Chinese medicine.
They are responsible for making hormones, regulating cholesterol, influencing thyroid function, supporting a healthy immune response, storing fat-soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and E, balancing blood sugar, making bile, and detoxifying every toxin that comes into our body so it can be packaged up and eliminated from the body.
If it gets bogged down, we get bogged down. Spring is the optimal time to support the liver, so hear are some simple ways to support your liver's functioning, decrease your toxic load and give it the nutrients it needs to do its job!
I was just going to do 10, but then I got on a roll....so here are the 50 ways...

Radiation Support Reminder
It is unclear as to whether or not the radiation from Japan is a health threat to us currently. The good news is that natural medicine provides us with the best options for protecting our bodies and keeping us as safe as possible from radiation and toxicity. So you are already ahead of the game if you are reading this!
In case you did not see this post in one of my previous emails, here are some great anti-radiation diet tips so you can be proactive.
And because I think it is important to be self reliant, I recommend having a supply on iodine on hand in case it is needed. Add it to your disaster kit. We still have some limited supplies in stock- of both iodine, and natural toxin binding formulas to enhance the elimination of radioactive substances from the body.
Click here to order your supply so you can be prepared to take care of yourself, and your family!

Beets a la Grecque

I love turning former non-beet eaters in to beet lovers with simple dishes like these. Beets, and especially beet greens, are one of nature's superfoods- high in iron, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and folate. Additionally, they are great for the liver and gall bladder. We are in prime beet season right now, and they are delicious. Here is a super easy and traditional Greek way to prepare them and bring out their delicious sweet flavor. Enjoy! Beets a la Grecque 1 bunch of beets with greens juice of 1/2 lemon 1 pinches Himalayan or Celtic salt 2 tbsp organic olive oil Wash and separate the beets and greens. Cut the beet roots into chunks. Steam them for about 10-15 minutes, or until they start to become soft. Add the greens on top of the steaming beets and steam for about 4 minutes or until tender. Put the greens on a platter. Place the beet root on top of them. Squeeze the lemon over them, then sprinkle the salt. Finish by drizzling the olive oil on top. The red beet juice and the oil will mix to create really pretty swirls! Eat warm or put in fridge to marinate for later and served chilled.
