Are you feeling the need to detox from all of the fun of summer?  The Bar-B-Ques, vacation food, road food, weddings, parties and family reunions? Well, the arrival of Fall is a great time to hunker down and start to get back on a healthy tip. And below I will share with you a few simple ways to do that!

 6 Simple Tips to Detox Your Retox

If you're wanting to improve your health and boost your energy, but don't want to completely overhaul your diet and everyday habits, there's hope! Here are 5 simple ways to integrate everyday detox and cleansing into your life. I encourage you to try this for a week and see what unfolds! A little self-care goes a long way!

  • Prepare your own food. Eat out less. When you're preparing your own food, you know exactly what goes into it, and more importantly, what doesn't go into it. You are also imparting your energy and love into your food.  Keep your kitchen stocked with healthy inspiring foods. You will automatically feel better.

  • Hydrate. My rule of thumb is half of your body weight in fluid ounces.  For example if you weigh 160 lbs, then you want to drink at least 80 oz of water. Add an additional 8 oz. for every caffeinated or alcoholic drink.

  • Create a routine.  This is especially helpful during the Fall season transition.  Set your sleep schedule, when you eat, exercise, meditate.

  • Green Soup: make one daily.  These soups are loaded with chlorophyll, minerals and other detoxifying and energizing nutrients.  See recipe below.

  • Sleep. Create a regular sleep schedule. Getting  a full night's sleep has a profound impact on your mood, mental clarity, weight, immune system and hormone balance.

  • Dry Skin Brush. This simple practice is a great way to stimulate your circulation and move your lymph, which helps carry the toxins out of your body. Do this before your morning shower to put a little more vigor in your step!

Green Soup!
I am a big fan of Diana Stobo- her attitude, her energy and her awesome recipes.  This recipe can be found in her book Get Naked Fast! It is not exactly a soup, but not exactly a green drink either.  Regardless, it is yummy!

extra virgin mary
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 2 tablespoons yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup purified water
  • 2 T lemon juice, freshly squeezed juice of one lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, or salt to taste
  • pinch cayenne pepper
Place all ingredients in high-speed blender and blend until smooth
