Greetings!
Spring is springing here in the Bay Area, and I am happy to share some of my upcoming events with you.
First and foremost, I am honored to have been invited to participate on the panel at the Marin Town Hall Meeting, Monday March 3rd, 7 pm to provide information about the proposed aerial spraying for the light brown apple moth (LBAM) throughout the Bay Area. This spraying stands to have a significant environmental and health impact,as it has not been tested for safety on humans. I have provided information and resources below about the meeting, the moth, the spray. Please educate yourselves and take action!
Secondly, it's time to spring clean your body. Get a jump on seasonal allergies, clear out the mind, lighten-up the body and improve your energy and digestion with one of several cleanse opportunities I will be offering this season. I am also excited to be guest lecturing at Adina's Urban Cleanse at Cafe Gratitude. Details are below.

Stop the Aerial Spray!
The
Stop the Spray movement in Marin has been launched and Marin's residents and
elected officials are invited to a Town Hall Meeting on Monday, March
3rd at 7 PM. The location is Corte Madera Town Center Community Room, Suite 201,
second floor. The CM Town Center is located just West of the Highway 101
off-ramp at Tamalpias/Paradise Drive. This action meeting will include
full public participation.

efforts/actions and legislation (6 pending bills, 2009 if
approved).

What's the Deal? The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has announced plans to resume aerial pesticide spraying for the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) on Aug. 1 2008. The campaign began in 2007 in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties using a synthetic pheromone along with other chemicals encased in microscopic plastic capsules called Checkmate.. CDFA is expanding the program to the San Francisco Bay Area with plans to continue spraying each month for up to 5 years or indefinitely until the moth is eradicated.
Their rational is that the apple moth may potentially damage agricultural crops and that Checkmate, being a moth phermone is safe. Both of these claims are untrue. The moth has not caused any agricultural harm and Checkmate has never been studied for safety in humans and contains several "inert" toxic ingredients. It is time that we insist that the Petro-Agri-Chemical complex instates the use of the precautionary principle- rather than chemicals being used until proven unsafe, let's prove them safe before we use them.

Alright, you all know I love Cafe Gratitude (especially the desserts!) so I am really excited to be contributing to Adina's great cleanse program that she is running there. I will be covering Detox 101 and providing general support for those going through this 5-day liquid raw food cleanse.

Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon in 1998, and is licensed in
both California and Washington. She founded the Uptown Center of
